Technical Requirements April 2006
Summary
We are six musicians and one engineer. We will bring all our own microphones but can use yours if necessary for fast festival changeovers, etc. We just need the mic stands and DI boxes listed below.
We’re pretty good at working with a variety of setups, and it’s important we’re notified of any potential changes to this spec so that the best solution can be found for you. Please contact Gavin Ramsay (sound engineer) on +44 (0)7803 617932 or cliar@herringbone.org if any of the information here is unclear, or you wish to discuss alterations.
Our soundcheck normally takes around an hour if everything below is already set up.
PA Requirements
The band features acoustic instruments and piano, which benefit from a natural-sounding speaker system. It’s not loud rock n roll, but does get energetic so the system should have subs and be capable of providing peaks of 110 dB(A) throughout the listening area. The system should be set up and free of noise before soundcheck. If you are renting PA for us, please send a contact for the PA company to the email address above.
Monitors & Stage
7 good quality wedges on 7 sends plus stereo side fills on stages over 10m (30’) wide running through 31-band graphic equalisers (located at front of house if no separate monitor desk). The wedges should be rung out before soundcheck.
It is possible, but more time-consuming, to work with fewer mixes. Numbering the wedges from the stage plan below:
Five mixes: join monitors one, two and three (these 3 can be a pair if necessary)
1 x UK style 13A 240V socket required for keyboards upstage left, and 1 for guitar upstage right. These can be replaced with standard stage power outlets in 110V countries.
Seven armless chairs are needed.
Desk & FOH – DIGITAL DESK ONLY BY PRIOR AGREEMENT
The desk channels should feature high pass filters and 4 band EQ with swept mids (or better!). We’ll need up to 8 compressors (min 4 please!) and two reverbs (these can be mono sends if necessary). We may bring extra compressors if necessary. The main outputs should run through a stereo parametric or 31-band graphic EQ accessible to the engineer at all times. CD player needed at front of house. If you want to give us a digital desk we will still need separate graphic equalisers for the monitors if controlled from front of house.
We carry a Studio Manager v2 file for Yamaha PM5D, DM2000, DM1000 – let us now if any of these desks are available.
